Weekend Adventure of Wine Trail along the Mississippi River and near Westby

Southeast Wisconsin Winery

The Great River Road Wine Trail presents its  “Start Summer Festival” on Saturday and Sunday, June 5-6, 2010 from 11 am – 6 pm. Each winery will feature local foods and their wines.  Vernon Vineyards is part of this trail located in the heart of the Driftless Area of Southwest Wisconsin and just 8 miles for the Westby House Inn. All wineries on the trail will each present their special offerings with free samples available to the general public. Some wine trail members will also have special food items available for purchase at the event. In addition to enjoying the wines and activities at each winery, travels are invited to enjoy the celebrations occurring in the various villages and towns along the trail.

Westby’s (Wisconsin) Norwegian heritage is celebrated each year with a festival called   Syttende Mai (meaning May17th). May 17th is  Norway’s Constitution Day. Events throughout the weekend include traditional foods, music, arts and crafts. live entertainment in the evenings. Bike Tour, 5k Run/Walk, Rosemaling, Troll Hunt, Ole & Lena Kaffe Hus, two parades and more.  The perfect lodging location is the Westby House B&B. Park your car on Friday and you don’t have to get back in it until your check-out on Sunday.  Every event is with-in walking distance of the B&B.
