The Great River Trail is 24 miles along the Mississippi River. The trail travels 18 different waterways with a trip across a former railroad trestle that is 287-feet over the Black River. Start this trip in Trempealeau or Onalaska. The winding 21.5 mile La Crosse River Trail takes you from Onalaska to Sparta. It runs over trout streams, through farm country and you may find yourself pedaling along a train on the active railroad line. Both of these trails are smooth surface for road bikes and mountain.
